Reimagining how artificial intelligence mediates encounters
between audiences, artworks and cultural institutions.
Biennale Bot is an AI-powered interactive guide developed for the International AI Art Biennale as an experimental platform for exploring new forms of communication between audiences, artworks and cultural institutions. Rather than functioning as a conventional chatbot or information system, the project investigates how conversational artificial intelligence can become an active mediator of artistic experience.
Designed as a flexible platform rather than a single exhibition tool, Biennale Bot combines curatorial knowledge, contextual interpretation and interactive dialogue within an accessible conversational interface. Visitors are encouraged to engage with artworks through personalised exploration, asking questions, discovering thematic connections and constructing individual pathways through the exhibition.
While originally conceived for the International AI Art Biennale, the project has been designed as an adaptable AI guide that can be implemented across museums, galleries, festivals and educational environments.

CONCEPT
Biennale Bot challenges the traditional model of museum guidance by replacing one-directional communication with an evolving dialogue between visitor and artificial intelligence. Rather than delivering predefined narratives, the system adapts to individual questions, interests and modes of exploration, allowing each encounter to unfold differently.
The project understands AI not simply as a technological assistant but as a mediator capable of supporting curiosity, contextual interpretation and critical reflection. Through natural language interaction, Biennale Bot extends the exhibition beyond physical labels and predefined routes, encouraging audiences to construct their own relationships with contemporary art.
Its modular architecture enables adaptation to different institutional contexts, making the platform applicable not only to biennales but also to museums, galleries, festivals, educational programmes and public exhibitions.

During conferences, Biennale Bot can also function as an AI researcher, conducting interviews with speakers and audiences and collecting qualitative data that can later support research, evaluation, and the development of analytical reports.
REFLECTION
Biennale Bot extends my artistic research beyond the production of artworks towards the design of intelligent cultural interfaces. The project investigates artificial intelligence not as a creative image generator but as a participant in dialogue, interpretation and knowledge exchange.
By positioning AI between artworks and audiences, the project opens new questions concerning authorship, mediation and the future role of conversational systems within cultural institutions. Rather than replacing human curators or educators, Biennale Bot proposes AI as a collaborative layer that expands access, participation and engagement while preserving the openness and plurality of artistic interpretation.
The project also represents an important step in my broader investigation into human–AI collaboration. While earlier works focused on AI as a generative partner in artistic creation, Biennale Bot explores its role as an intelligent interface capable of shaping how knowledge, artistic experience and cultural narratives are shared.
