Investigating liminal states of perception through artificial intelligence,
immersive environments and performative experience.
Spectral Protocols is an audiovisual work exploring the liminal states between dreams, hallucinations, memory, and perception. Blurring the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, reality and illusion, the work unfolds as a sequence of shifting visual and sonic impressions that resist fixed interpretation. A whispered stream of fragmented words and associations accompanies the moving image, inviting viewers into a space where meaning continuously dissolves and re-emerges.
"Naturally – unnaturally.
Alive or not alive.
Or the other way around.
Transition.
Distortion.
Transmission.
Shadow.
Error.
Art.
Absurds into life from art,
reverse,
not really."

RESEARCH FRAMEWORK
Research Questions:
How can artificial intelligence become a medium for investigating perception rather than representation?
What visual languages emerge between dreams, memory and hallucination?
How do unstable digital environments transform embodied experience?
RELATED RESEARCH THEMES
Perception
Perception understood as a dynamic and continuously shifting process rather than a stable condition.
Artificial Intelligence
AI functions as a generative collaborator producing evolving visual environments.
Transformation
Images continuously mutate, dissolving distinctions between recognition and abstraction.
CONCEPT
Spectral Protocols explores the fragile territory where conscious perception intersects with subconscious imagery. Inspired by the unstable logic of dreams and hallucinations, the installation investigates how artificial intelligence can generate environments that remain perpetually unfinished, ambiguous and in transition.
Rather than illustrating dream narratives, the work constructs a visual ecology of transformation in which forms continuously emerge, disappear and reconfigure. Participants navigate an environment where certainty is suspended and perception becomes an active process of interpretation.
The project proposes that artificial intelligence can function not only as a tool for image generation but also as a medium for investigating uncertainty, emergence and the fluid boundaries between reality and imagination.

REFLECTION
Spectral Protocols represents a turning point in my artistic practice, where artificial intelligence ceased to function as a tool for image generation and became a collaborator in exploring unstable states of perception. Through generative moving images and large-scale projection, the project investigated transformation as a continuous process rather than a fixed visual outcome.
The work expanded earlier investigations into embodiment by shifting attention towards perception itself—its fluidity, uncertainty and susceptibility to algorithmic intervention. Rather than depicting dreams or hallucinations, Spectral Protocols constructed conditions in which reality and imagination continuously intersected.
These investigations directly informed the development of Symbiotic Couture, where questions of emergence, co-creation and generative transformation evolved from the level of moving image into biological systems and performative matter.
